Believers Must Be Strong
In last Sunday’s Pastor’s Pen, I came out of Deuteronomy 8 because this chapter is the chapter God gave me in forming the Vision He gave for Calvary Christian Center. It is fitting for the times we live in as well as for the message God has given me to encourage His people today. Believers must be sober in the present age that we live. God gave me Deuteronomy 8 because we too must not forget who we are, our purpose, our destiny, or where our help comes from. God warned Israel that when they have gotten their goodly homes, lands, and prosperous in their flocks, that they should not forget that it all comes from Him with purpose in mind. “Always remember that it is the Lord your God who gives you power to become rich, and he does it to fulfill the covenant he madewith your ancestors. But I assure you of this: If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods, worshiping and bowing down to them, you will certainly be destroyed,” Deut. 8:18, 19 (New Living Translation). The significance of these verses of scriptures as it relates to this age we presently live is the warning of Believers to not forget the higher (upward) call on their lives from Heaven. When we forget who we are then our character will reflect that and we are overtaken by tests, and by the trials of our faith. Our adversary, as a roaring lion, walks about seeking whom he may devour and the only way to fight this adversary is by faith. The times are perilous and Believers must be strong in this hour not to cave into our flesh, emotions, and our senses. Satan will devour you every time when you allow yourself to be governed by your senses. Be governed by the principles of God’s Word. “It is better to be patient than powerful; it is better to have self-control than to conquer a city,” Pr. 16:32 (New Living Translation).
