Practicing the presence of God in our faith walk should always be in the forefront of the mind of every Christian. Knowing that God is with us and in us is a powerful influence in the day-to-day activities in our faith journey. The God of creation, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, the I AM, lives on the inside of every Believer. We are the temple of God because His Spirit abides in us and once we truly tap into that revelation, we then have the audience of the true and living God. We can talk to God and God can talk to us. Out of all of God’s creation, man only, may have fellowship with Him, a personal relationship with Him, pray to Him, worship Him, and praise Him. In the days of Elijah the Lord passed by him and the Bible declares that “…a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and break in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah,” 1 Ki. 19:11-13 (KJV). Sometimes we look for God in all the wrong ways when all we need is to listen to that still small voice of the Holy Spirit speaking to us just what we need to hear from God. Just listen to Him. Just listen. Don’t ever get too busy that the busyness drowns out the voice of God. The Holy Spirit’s anointing was prominent in both the Old & New Testaments, therefore for Christians there’s no excuse for being powerless and fearful in this age of grace. God is with us. The Holy Spirit was intimately involved in both testaments. To be honest, we see His involvement in the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation. Why would the Holy Spirit be awol in this present generation? The answer to that question is that the Holy Spirit was and is very much involved in the everyday affairs of the Church, Old and New Testament. That means His power is just as accessible and necessary now as it was in Bible days. Throughout the Word of God His presence is prominent. We need the power of the Holy Ghost. This is an evil generation and it’s going to take the power of the Holy Spirit in order that we navigate this dimension of wickedness. We’re witnessing some of the most unbridled wickedness in some very high places and the one entity that is supposed to represent righteousness, mercy, forgiveness, compassion, and empathy, is oftentimes on the wrong side of right. This is a sure sign of the times that we live in. Just know though, that God’s will will be fulfilled in the earth just like He said. We need the Holy Ghost in order that we retain our integrity and sanity. We need the Holy Spirit in order that we fight the evil of this present generation. We need the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom and guidance, be our Helper in the time of need. We need the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth and bring things back to our remembrance. The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is anointed with the power of the Holy Spirit and that anointing destroys every yoke, lifts every burden, and sets every captives free. That anointing was on Christ when He walked this earth . Acts 10:38 (KJV): 38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Many don’t realize that in all actuality Christ is not the Lord’s last name, but Christ is from the Greek word Christos, Strong’s 5547, and it means anointed, i.e. the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus:-Christ. Couple that with the Old Testament Hebrew word for anointed, mashiah, of which the English word Messiah, that is ascribed to the Lord, is derived. Jesus is the Messiah, the anointed One and His anointing, and the same anointing is on the Church of Jesus Christ, the body of Christ, the ekklesia, the called out ones. We are anointed . 1 John 2:20 (KJV): 20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 1 John 2:27 (KJV): 27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. We’ve got power over all of the power of the enemy. It’s the children’s bread and if the Church is going to walk in victory, then it must receive the revelation of the anointing that was on the Lord Jesus Christ is the same anointing that is with the Church and in the Church today. Throughout the Word of God, we witness the footprints of the Holy Spirit. From Genesis to Revelation, He’s there. Genesis 1:1, 2 (KJV): 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Revelation 22:1 (KJV): And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. There are some who believe that this scripture in Rev. 22:1 is reference to the Holy Spirit as compared to John 7:37–39 (KJV): 37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) The Holy Spirit was intimately involved overseeing in the early Church. Acts 16:6–7 (KJV): 6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, 7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. The same Holy Spirit is with the Church today. The Church will have confirmation by the Holy Spirit as long as the Church aligns with the Word just like the Holy Spirit did in the book of beginnings . Ezekiel 36:26–27 (KJV): 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. God, through the prophet Ezekiel, revealed in that day that He would be doing a new thing in the house of Israel. He would put His Spirit in them, put His laws in their hearts, and give them a heart of flesh and He would be their God and they would be His people. Though Ezekiel prophesied to the Jews, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is the reality in the Church as well. The Church age is the age of the Spirit. That is how God puts His laws into the hearts of His people. He gives them a new nature. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV): 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Believers are now partakers of the divine nature. 2 Peter 1:4 (KJV): 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. We’ve been changed. God changed our “want to.” Now, we “want to” do right by God. We “want to” draw closer to Him. We “want to” treat our neighbor right. We may stumble, but our “want to” is to do what pleases God. The Holy Spirit helps us because He is with us and is in us. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. We must be ever so sensitive to God’s Spirit in us and He will lead us and guide us into all truth. In the message today I’m going full throttle on one of the most neglected doctrines in this contemporary age, and that is the ministry of the Holy Spirit. As I encourage the saints on walking under an open Heaven and in the fullness of all that is the children’s bread, there is just no way that we can fulfill that without the ministry of the Holy Spirit. As we have already declared in previous messages, the Holy Spirit is in every aspect of our redemption. He’s also in every aspect of our faith journey, whether we confess that or not. The Holy Spirit creates, heals, gives life, casts out devils, convicts of sin, redeems, resurrects, inspires scriptures, distributes gifts, forms the body of Christ, endues with power, changes lives, directs gospel work, frees from sin, gives victory over sin, bears witness, searches the deep things of God, brings things back to our remembrance and teaches and guides into all truth, reveals secrets, dwells in Believers, guides in daily problems, helps in prayer, washes from sin, sanctifies, and justifies, imparts and causes supernatural powers to be manifested through Believers, imparts love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control, seals men to divine ownership, gives access to God, imparts revelation, fills Believers, causes obedience to truth, speaks of Christ and glorifies Him, confirms the gospel, and carries on the work of God in the earth, He is the author of the new birth and the direct executive of God in all phases of creation and redemption, the Holy Spirit is the preserver of all things, and finally, He is God the Holy Spirit. The fruit and gifts of the Holy Spirit are for character building and service respectively in the kingdom of God. The people of God must always be mindful that first and foremost we are representatives of the kingdom of God. We, the Believers, are ambassadors of the kingdom of Heaven and what that translates to is everything else falls in line behind kingdom priority. We are just coming out of our 21 Day Consecration and during that consecration the Lord led me to encourage the congregation here at CCC that this year is the year of the open Heaven. In Gen. 7:11 and Mal. 3:10 are the only 2 places in the Bible where the windows of Heaven are mentioned being opened and in each case, there was an abundance. One was an abundance of judgment because of disobedience to God and the other was an abundance because of obedience to God, therefore I want the windows of Heaven open because of obedience to God and not disobedience. Therefore, obeying His commandments, walking by faith and not by sight, and abiding in His love is how we are going to keep those windows open. Of course, we understand that the words “windows of Heaven” are a figure of speech meaning that the favor of God is on the one who abides in God’s love. This is where the ministry of the Holy Spirit is ever so needed because whether it’s being built up in godly character or needing power for service, without the ministry of the Holy Spirit we’re sunk in the water. The fruit, gifts, and unction (anointing) of the Holy Spirit have been given to the Church by God just for such a time as this. Acts 1:8 (KJV): 8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. CCC’s firstfruit offering of a 21 Day Consecration is winding down but the spirit of the 21 Day Consecration continues on in our hearts and minds. The life of the Believer is a consecration unto God. This is the theme throughout God’s Word . Exodus 20:2–6 (KJV): 2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (KJV): 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. One of CCC’s youth came to me Sunday and she had one of the pamphlets promoting CCC’s 21 Day Consecration in her hand. She wanted to know whether or not we were on a total fast abstaining from any food or drink. In other words, a complete fast. I explained that the pamphlet reveals the different kinds of fasts and that it was left to each individual however the Lord leads them on any particular kind of fast to participate in. I could see her curiosity and desire to know more about fasting. The Bible speaks to whether or not we’re in the right kind of fasting or the wrong kind of fasting. It’s not so much about the abstaining from food and drink as much as being willing to change where change is needed in our lives because if we’re not willing to allow the Holy Spirit and God’s Word to shine the light from Heaven on our souls then you’re receiving no benefit from prayer and fasting except maybe to shed a few pounds and to give your digestive system a well deserved rest . Isaiah 58:6 (KJV): 6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, And to let the oppressed go free, And that ye break every yoke? Prayer and fasting is about a heart change more than changing your diet. If we’re not going to change our hearts toward God and in drawing nigh unto Him then you might as well order you a steak and a loaded bake potato and enjoy yourself, otherwise you’re just going hungry for nothing. Oh, but the benefits of fasting and praying with a genuine heart for God is more than worth the sacrifice in order that we draw nearer blessed Lord. As the Psalmist penned, Psalm 84:10 (KJV): 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, Than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
