Pastor’s Pen for Sunday, 8-17-25
The spirit of anti-Christ spoken of in 1 Jn. 4:1-3 is already in the land, that spirit against God, His will, plans, and purposes for man in the earth. God gave His people a Comforter though, who empowers the people of God for the times that they live in. You may be asking what kind of times are these? The Bible declares that in the last days perilous times shall come. I would change that today to perilous times are here. Throughout history there have always been perilous times, and God has always given His people whatever they needed to weather those times. In particular, God have provided the necessary provision for man to be strengthened spiritually for every occasion. The inner-man, the spirit, mind, and body, God have provided again, that we may be built up for such a time as this. God set us up for success by giving His Spirit, not only to be with us, but in us as well. The Spirit of God, Comforter, Counselor, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby, Advocate, and Helper, gives us power for service and His indwelling presence for Christian character (fruit of the Spirit). Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV): 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Ephesians 5:18 (KJV): 18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. We need the Holy Spirit as much now as did the early Church in the book of Acts. We’ll need His wisdom in these end times for how we should do, what we are to do, and when we are to do it. This spirit of anti-Christ is in high places and places where we wouldn’t think, and in people we wouldn’t think, but so it is. We don’t have to fret because we have been given power over all of the power of the enemy. The Holy Spirit is our power source and everything we need to walk in victory. God’s Word, again, says that He shall be with us and shall be in us. We need the Holy Spirit.
