Pastor’s Pen for Sunday, 1-4-26
The Lord laid on my heart the theme for 2026 which is “The Year of the Open Heaven.” There are only 2 places in the Bible where “the windows of Heaven” are mentioned and that’s in Malachi 3:10 and Genesis 7:11, and in each case it is referring to an abundance flowing from Heaven when its windows are open. The difference between the windows being opened in Genesis and Malachi is one is the judgment of God for disobedience to His will and the other is the blessing of God for obedience to His will. Both scenarios are the results of faith or the lack of faith in God. When the body of Christ is on fire for God there’s less of a chance for the enemy to set up camp among the people of God. When the Church is not on fire for God Satan gets place to come in and sow discord, offences, division, confusion, disunity, anger, hate, animosity, etc., in the body of Christ to hinder the plans and purposes of God in the earth. When the body of Christ is on fire, on the other hand, the enemy cannot so easily come in like a flood else the Lord will raise up a standard against him just as He did when David faced Goliath. David had a strength of character spiritually and when he faced the giant his hope was in his God. One of the ways I am convinced that the body of Christ will stay on fire is by maturing in godly character, Galatians 5:22–23 (KJV): 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Strength in godly character, strong in the Lord and in the power of His might is how we catch on fire and stay on fire. That’s one reason why the assembling of ourselves together is admonished in the Word of God. Hebrews 10:25 (KJV): 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
