This faith journey can place a powerful demand on this flesh, just like the anointing places a heavy demand on this flesh. Most Church goers are not privy to how much a Pastor gives out each occasion that he gets before a congregation of people to minister to them what God has given to him. I personally am so drained after any Sunday worship service or Monday night Bible study to the point that after Sunday service the rest of that day is rest for the body, and though Bible study is somewhat less demanding, yet demanding it is. We all can get weary on this faith journey regardless of your place in the body of Christ. That’s why one of my missions is to teach on the total man, spirit, soul, and body, and our attention to ministering to the total person, and taking care of the total being. When that body, and mind, and spirit, is stretched, we’ve got to know how to maintain that bounce back by understanding our own selves and the power of God in us by faith. We’ve got to get as much stress out of our lives as possible. Stay clear of people who you know are going to stress you out, as well as much as possible, avoid stressful situations. I had to learn the hard way to not be everything and everywhere that everybody wanted me to be. Sometimes you’ve got to say, “No!” Once you’ve done all you can do in the natural, you’ve got to learn to rest in the Lord. To rest in the Lord just basically means to have faith in God. Hebrews 4:1–3 (KJV): Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. 3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. The Word of God reveals the manipulative spirit of men and how that human nature, if left unchecked, will try and mold others into the persons that they can take advantage of. In several cases in scripture drugs are used, the occult, divination, sorcery, etc., to influence the unsuspecting. In Gal. 5:20 it mentions witchcraft. Witchcraft is manipulation and control. In Gal. 5:20 the word witchcraft is from the Greek word pharmakeia, pronounced far-mak-i-ah, Strong’s G5331, and it means medication (pharmacy) that is (by extension) magic (literal or figuratively):-sorcery, witchcraft. This generation is a very manipulative generation and it’s not just the unsaved that’s guilty of it. Even in the church it’s quite prevalent. Christians, when they do it, they throw their rock and hide their hand. It’s manipulation none-the-less. In this present generation people don’t care about hiding their hand. They could care less whether you know it or not and that’s the unsettling thing. It’s the end time generation and there are some cold hearts in it. Matthew 24:12 (KJV): 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. When people cannot trust their leaders in government, community, city, state, school, church, etc., we’re setting ourselves up for failure. When lying becomes the norm, and stabbing each other in the back gets normalized, manipulation and control is fine as long as it’s me doing the manipulating and not the other way around, then we’ve landed somewhere far beyond the bottom. When we can no longer distinguish between believers and unbelievers, clean and unclean, righteous and unrighteous, holy and unholy, right and wrong, just know that our redemption draweth nigh. God created man in His image and in His likeness. He poured out His Spirit upon all flesh in these last days, but only those who believe may receive Him. Those of us who are hungry after a deeper spiritual walk with God know what the cost is to quench that thirst. Once that river flows in your heart, there’s no settling for anything less than His indwelling presence and his infilling power. In John 7:37-39, metaphorically, the Holy Spirit is called rivers of living water. Notice that the Scripture didn’t just say a river of living water, but rivers of living water, rivers with an “s.” Now, when we are studying Scripture, we’ve got to imagine in our minds the descriptive and colorful language, even if it’s symbolic language or metaphorical, we should picture in our mind, drawing an analogy between the reality and the metaphorical language to maximize the full effect of what the language is conveying. So, if I’m thirsty, and I come across rivers, with an “s,” of living water, then I begin to get the picture of what Scripture is conveying to me concerning the Holy Spirit, except this is giving me an idea of just how refreshing spiritually the indwelling presence and infilling power of the Holy Spirit truly is. You think of rivers as flowing, cool, refreshing, cleansing, and wet. Water quenches our thirsty body. The Holy Spirit quenches our spirit man. Rivers of water revive the tired, thirsty, and weary. The Holy Spirit revives our spirit. You can become immersed in rivers of water. We can become immersed in the Holy Spirit. The deeper you go under water the cooler and more refreshing it gets. The deeper we go in the Holy Spirit the more satisfied our thirst is quenched. In His Service, Pastor Jeffery A. Practicing the presence of God in our faith walk should always be in the forefront of the mind of every Christian. Knowing that God is with us and in us is a powerful influence in the day-to-day activities in our faith journey. The God of creation, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, the I AM, lives on the inside of every Believer. We are the temple of God because His Spirit abides in us and once we truly tap into that revelation, we then have the audience of the true and living God. We can talk to God and God can talk to us. Out of all of God’s creation, man only, may have fellowship with Him, a personal relationship with Him, pray to Him, worship Him, and praise Him. In the days of Elijah the Lord passed by him and the Bible declares that “…a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and break in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah,” 1 Ki. 19:11-13 (KJV). Sometimes we look for God in all the wrong ways when all we need is to listen to that still small voice of the Holy Spirit speaking to us just what we need to hear from God. Just listen to Him. Just listen. Don’t ever get too busy that the busyness drowns out the voice of God. The Holy Spirit’s anointing was prominent in both the Old & New Testaments, therefore for Christians there’s no excuse for being powerless and fearful in this age of grace. God is with us. The Holy Spirit was intimately involved in both testaments. To be honest, we see His involvement in the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation. Why would the Holy Spirit be awol in this present generation? The answer to that question is that the Holy Spirit was and is very much involved in the everyday affairs of the Church, Old and New Testament. That means His power is just as accessible and necessary now as it was in Bible days. Throughout the Word of God His presence is prominent. We need the power of the Holy Ghost. This is an evil generation and it’s going to take the power of the Holy Spirit in order that we navigate this dimension of wickedness. We’re witnessing some of the most unbridled wickedness in some very high places and the one entity that is supposed to represent righteousness, mercy, forgiveness, compassion, and empathy, is oftentimes on the wrong side of right. This is a sure sign of the times that we live in. Just know though, that God’s will will be fulfilled in the earth just like He said. We need the Holy Ghost in order that we retain our integrity and sanity. We need the Holy Spirit in order that we fight the evil of this present generation. We need the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom and guidance, be our Helper in the time of need. We need the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth and bring things back to our remembrance. The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is anointed with the power of the Holy Spirit and that anointing destroys every yoke, lifts every burden, and sets every captives free. That anointing was on Christ when He walked this earth . Acts 10:38 (KJV): 38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Many don’t realize that in all actuality Christ is not the Lord’s last name, but Christ is from the Greek word Christos, Strong’s 5547, and it means anointed, i.e. the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus:-Christ. Couple that with the Old Testament Hebrew word for anointed, mashiah, of which the English word Messiah, that is ascribed to the Lord, is derived. Jesus is the Messiah, the anointed One and His anointing, and the same anointing is on the Church of Jesus Christ, the body of Christ, the ekklesia, the called out ones. We are anointed . 1 John 2:20 (KJV): 20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 1 John 2:27 (KJV): 27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. We’ve got power over all of the power of the enemy. It’s the children’s bread and if the Church is going to walk in victory, then it must receive the revelation of the anointing that was on the Lord Jesus Christ is the same anointing that is with the Church and in the Church today. Throughout the Word of God, we witness the footprints of the Holy Spirit. From Genesis to Revelation, He’s there. Genesis 1:1, 2 (KJV): 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Revelation 22:1 (KJV): And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. There are some who believe that this scripture in Rev. 22:1 is reference to the Holy Spirit as compared to John 7:37–39 (KJV): 37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) The Holy Spirit was intimately involved overseeing in the early Church. Acts 16:6–7 (KJV): 6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, 7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. The same Holy Spirit is with the Church today. The Church will have confirmation by the Holy Spirit as long as the Church aligns with the Word just like the Holy Spirit did in the book of beginnings . Ezekiel 36:26–27 (KJV): 26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. God, through the prophet Ezekiel, revealed in that day that He would be doing a new thing in the house of Israel. He would put His Spirit in them, put His laws in their hearts, and give them a heart of flesh and He would be their God and they would be His people. Though Ezekiel prophesied to the Jews, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is the reality in the Church as well. The Church age is the age of the Spirit. That is how God puts His laws into the hearts of His people. He gives them a new nature. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV): 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. Believers are now partakers of the divine nature. 2 Peter 1:4 (KJV): 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. We’ve been changed. God changed our “want to.” Now, we “want to” do right by God. We “want to” draw closer to Him. We “want to” treat our neighbor right. We may stumble, but our “want to” is to do what pleases God. The Holy Spirit helps us because He is with us and is in us. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. We must be ever so sensitive to God’s Spirit in us and He will lead us and guide us into all truth. In the message today I’m going full throttle on one of the most neglected doctrines in this contemporary age, and that is the ministry of the Holy Spirit. As I encourage the saints on walking under an open Heaven and in the fullness of all that is the children’s bread, there is just no way that we can fulfill that without the ministry of the Holy Spirit. As we have already declared in previous messages, the Holy Spirit is in every aspect of our redemption. He’s also in every aspect of our faith journey, whether we confess that or not. The Holy Spirit creates, heals, gives life, casts out devils, convicts of sin, redeems, resurrects, inspires scriptures, distributes gifts, forms the body of Christ, endues with power, changes lives, directs gospel work, frees from sin, gives victory over sin, bears witness, searches the deep things of God, brings things back to our remembrance and teaches and guides into all truth, reveals secrets, dwells in Believers, guides in daily problems, helps in prayer, washes from sin, sanctifies, and justifies, imparts and causes supernatural powers to be manifested through Believers, imparts love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control, seals men to divine ownership, gives access to God, imparts revelation, fills Believers, causes obedience to truth, speaks of Christ and glorifies Him, confirms the gospel, and carries on the work of God in the earth, He is the author of the new birth and the direct executive of God in all phases of creation and redemption, the Holy Spirit is the preserver of all things, and finally, He is God the Holy Spirit.
